About the Dodgers
The Lincoln Dodgers Baseball Organization has been providing opportunities for young players to showcase their athletic talents since 1997. Founded by Bob Bade, the Lincoln Dodgers are committed to providing a quality select baseball program for Lincoln area youth to develop the skills needed to play at the high school level and excel in the sport. We are proud to say that we have more of our players making their high school teams than any organization in Lincoln.
The Lincoln Dodgers have a tradition of providing a positive, competitive environment for players, ages 8-14, to learn fundamentals, sportsmanship, and skills needed to reach their individual potential. We are also the only organization with our own training facility with no additional fees for unlimited availability. Individual instruction is also available.
In each age division, we will field up to three teams to provide additional opportunities for Lincoln area youth to play select baseball. We encourage players of all ages and experience levels to attend tryouts. Each Lincoln Dodger team plays an average of 40-55 games per season and participates in USSSA State and World Series tournaments.
The Dodgers Approach to Youth Baseball
Baseball is a sport that is meant to be enjoyable for players, parents and coaches.
Dodgers’ coaches have been chosen based on our view that they have the knowledge, skill, dedication and attitude necessary to coach your sons to become successful ball players.
Although we may not win every ball game we play, we do intend to identify and field the best players possible at each position to try to win each game.
Players are required to participate in all practices and to be at all games including tournaments. Your commitment is for the entire season.
On average, all players will have an opportunity to play during non-tournament games. However, for tournaments, the coaches will decide the best line up of players for each game with the goal of winning these games to progress as far each season as possible. Our philosophy is that each baseball player will improve more quickly as a result of competition, especially at these levels.
If you as a parent expect your son to play every inning of every game, then the Dodgers’ organization is not for you.
The coaches intend to be fair and to try to identify the strengths of each player; but ultimately, they will have to make a decision as to which nine players should be on the field at any given time.
By mid-April, we hope to know the two or three positions best suited for your son. We will then have him playing those positions to help him learn how to approach a variety of fielding situations, to develop strategies related to those positions and to know what to do at any given moment in a game.
As a parent we would expect that you support your son and the coaches and that you not attempt to coach from the sideline. Cheering and offering encouragement are truly appreciated. However, with all the things that each player must learn and do to hit and to field, it is essential that the coaches be the ones telling the players how to hit, to catch and to play a particular position.
Respect for coaches, other team members, opponents and umpires are an essential part of the Dodgers’ team philosophy.
Temper tantrums, profanity, throwing of equipment and disrespect of the coaches will not be tolerated. Players will be benched if they do not conduct themselves as good sportsmen and team members.
Lincoln Dodgers allows opportunities to reduce your player fee to the extent that you may play free, however all payments made toward your fee are non refundable. This includes situations where a player/parent can not continue with Lincoln Dodgers through the season.
Baseball is a team sport that requires all players to be available to give us the best opportunity to be successful as an organization.
As an organization we strive to make playing select baseball as affordable as possible. Having said that, a lot of resources go into fielding each team for the season.
